I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica. I pursued my college diploma in high school education. There after I taught numerous high schools in history, social studies and geography. I also taught some working class population who wanted to sit the Caribbean external examinations with the hope to be more marketable.

Later on, I did my Early Childhood Education at my local university in Jamaica where I graduated with Fist Class Honors. I taught at an elementary school for about 8 years using the Abeka Program for which I was trained at an Abeka seminar in Pensacola. I taught and supervised K1 and K2. Soon after, I taught K5 while supervising K3 through K5. I went on to teach grades 3 and 4 and also became the supervisor for fourth grade teachers. Although not a special education teacher, I gained skills from attending seminars for students with learning disabilities. Those skills along with the Abeka style helped me to tutor kids from different grades who were falling behind or showed very little interest in what is happening in the classroom.

When I emigrated to the USA, I taught grade 5 students in math, English/reading, science and social studies. With very little resources to work with, my experience as a teacher helped me to plan lessons based on a very complicated curriculum. I also had to draw on skills learnt to tutor students who were operating on at least two grade level below grade 5. I have also done one on one tutoring with students with dyslexia and attention deficit. I did Praxis 1 and 11 in my fist year of teaching in the states. Overall, I have over ten years in teaching/ tutoring in different levels of education.
