Hi! I am Miss Alisa. I am a licensed Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education teacher with a Master's in Special Education and a certified speech language pathologist assistant with additional training in the science of reading.

As a certified teacher with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, I bring a strong foundation of educational expertise and a passion for helping students grow. I currently hold valid teaching licenses in both Colorado and Virginia and have several years of experience working with students from preschool through college. Over the years, I’ve discovered my greatest joy is helping young learners—especially beginning readers—develop strong foundational skills in reading. I specialize in supporting early literacy development, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading fluency. My background in both general and special education equips me to meet a wide variety of learning needs with patience, creativity, and evidence-based practices.

My tutoring sessions are virtual, engaging, and highly interactive. I use a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, music, movement, and games to help young readers stay focused and have fun while learning. I also prioritize student voice—inviting children to take part in setting goals and planning our sessions helps keep them motivated and invested in their progress. I aim to create a welcoming and encouraging environment where students feel safe to take risks and grow in confidence. Whether your child is just beginning to recognize letters and sounds or needs extra support to become a fluent reader, I am here to provide personalized instruction that meets them right where they are.

I love to help struggling readers overcome a misunderstanding in phonics, grow their vocabulary, or master a breathing technique that helps them control their anxiety.
Please contact me to discuss your tutoring needs and see if we are a good fit.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Before receiving my Masters in Special Education, I worked as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant and a paraprofessional with students that had an autism diagnosis. While I pursued my Masters degree, I was able to take many Autism Internet Modules as part of my training, and start coursework for the Teachers of Autism graduate certificate. I love working with students with an autism diagnosis and that love led me to pursue educational opportunities to help me understand how to best teach them.
