High School IB Diploma Candidate Graduate Tutor

Hi! I'm Keaton D, a recent graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School in Fairfax county. I am a full IB diploma candidate, having taken IB courses such as IB History of the Americas and IB Language and Literature- both in the Higher level. I have also completed IB requirements including the extended essay and the Theory of Knowledge course. I will be attending William and Mary College for the 2022-23 school year with an intended double major in English and Government. I mainly specialize in English, whether it be standard English, honors, or IB.

I have taken two years of IB Language and Literature at the higher level and have written numerous essays and written pieces for the IB. I was also the previous co-editor-in-chief of my high school's newspaper, in which I was required to write and proofread. Additionally, I have one year of experience in tutoring primary school students in a variety of subjects online, through a non-profit organization known as GIVE Youth.

In my approach, I like to review material with tutees based on their level of understanding and their difficulties with the material itself. Then, I encourage the tutee to apply what they have learned from the material. When tutoring in the subject of english, I may encourage the tutee to apply their knowledge by proofreading pieces of writing. However, in IB English Language & Literature, I tend to encourage the tutee to analyze text types and write an analysis based on the following text types in regards to a prompt, which prepares the student for the Paper 1 exam in IB English Language & Literature.
