I’m a university-level art and design instructor with several years of experience teaching Adobe Creative Suite at Old Dominion University. For the past three years, I’ve taught courses that focus on Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, working with undergraduate students who range from complete beginners to more advanced designers. My background in visual art and design allows me to teach both the technical tools and the design thinking behind them, including layout, typography, image editing, and vector illustration.
Most of my teaching experience has been in a classroom setting, where I guide students through hands-on projects and real-world design tasks. I focus on making complex tools feel manageable by breaking processes into clear, practical steps and explaining not just how something works, but why it works that way. I regularly help students with multi-page documents, photo editing, branding projects, and preparing files for print or digital use, and I adapt my approach to different learning styles and experience levels.
When I tutor one-on-one, my goal is to make learning feel relaxed and supportive. I tailor each session to what the student actually needs help with, whether that’s understanding the basics, troubleshooting an assignment, improving workflow, or building confidence with the software. I want students to leave sessions feeling less overwhelmed and more comfortable using professional design tools on their own.
