Bio

I have been teaching history on the college level for twenty-four years. My goal is to help everyone I teach and tutor to understand and appreciate history. I believe I have been successful at telling the story of history in a manner that is interesting and enjoyable. I focused on US history in both my master's and PhD programs. I have been teaching college history for nineteen years.
Archaeology

I have taught ancient history for seventeen years and have emphasized ancient material culture and architecture. I use ancient artifacts in the classroom from time to time. I keep students up to date on the latest archaeological investigations going on throughout the world.
Baseball

I played baseball as a youngster and have been a fan of the game my entire life. I know the rules perfectly and have a firm understanding of the strategies of the game. I would very much enjoy teaching the game. I do not have any credentials in baseball. I have followed Major League Baseball for about forty years and attended many Philadelphia Phillies games when I lived outside of Philadelphia. I played Little League baseball for about three years.

I studied music history as an elective in my doctoral program. I have been a student of Western music history for most of my life and I have a great knowledge of composers and their works. I am also a pianist and have taken courses in music theory.

I have been playing piano for over thirty years. I studied with a concert pianist in college and played in recitals. My repertoire includes literature from the Classical, Romantic, and early Modern periods. I also have a background in music theory.

I have been teaching history at the college level for fourteen years. During that time, I have emphasized improving writing skills with my students. Last year, I graduated from Kent State University with my PhD in history. I am certified by WyzAnt in grammar, reading, and vocabulary. I believe my skills and experience certify me to tutor for the Praxis examination for teachers.

I have worked with both young children and older students in reading. The main focus for all students has been reading comprehension, especially for those preparing for standardized tests that have reading comprehension questions.

As a professor of world history and Western civilization I have eighteen years of experience in teaching the concepts and history of world religions. I have the most knowledge about the three great monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I also cover the ancient polytheistic religions and the religions of the Far East.

Dr Kurt has been a professor of World History—and it shows! He definitely knows the material. Not only is he extremely well-versed in the material, he is a very excellent teacher. In my session he never went on tangents, and he was patient and kind. He is one of the best for sure.
