My name is Maegan, and I am a passionate and experienced history teacher with a strong background in both middle and high school education. Since January 2023, I have been teaching high school World History and United States History, following state standards and bringing both structure and creativity into the classroom. Prior to that, I spent a year teaching middle school, which helped me build a strong foundation in adapting lessons to meet a wide range of learning styles and maturity levels. While I have not independently tutored before, I have provided one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions at the school where I currently teach, focusing on reteaching, test prep, and essay writing support.
My teaching philosophy centers around making history engaging, relatable, and easy to remember. I specialize in World History from the Renaissance to the modern era, as well as U.S. History, and I approach these subjects through a conversational and story-based lens. I believe history is best learned when it feels like a compelling narrative rather than a list of dates and names. I aim to help students connect with historical figures and events by drawing parallels to their own lives and encouraging curiosity and critical thinking. Whether a student is looking to catch up, build confidence, or deepen their understanding, I strive to create a supportive and thoughtful environment that meets them where they are.
