Hi, I'm Megan! I hold an MPH in Epidemiology and a Bachelor of Science in Community Health: Clinical Sciences (Pre-Med Track), graduating summa cum laude. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in math, science, and critical thinking, but it has also shaped how I approach teaching.
During graduate school, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for an advanced biostatistics course supporting Master's and PhD students. I led individual and group office hours and review sessions, graded assignments, provided detailed feedback on drafts, and helped students troubleshoot coding challenges. I worked closely with students who were overwhelmed by complex concepts, breaking the material down into manageable pieces.
Additionally, I have been a substitute teacher since 2022, teaching in K-12 classrooms across a variety of subjects. I have also provided long-term, individualized academic support to a student from K-8th grade, adjusting my teaching style as their academic needs evolved over time. These experiences have strengthened my ability to connect with learners at different developmental stages.
One of the most important lessons I've learned is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning, every student processes information differently. Because of this, I tailor my approach by incorporating visuals, emphasizing active problem-solving, and encouraging consistent practice. I often begin by allowing students to attempt a problem on their own so I can identify exactly where misunderstandings begin. After address the gaps, we practice and apply the material together. My goal is for students to reach true recall, not just recognition, so they have the confidence and independence to approach new problems on their own.
Whether you're prepping for exams, struggling with a specific subject, or looking to build stronger foundational skills, I'm committed to creating a supportive and encouraging environment where questions are always welcome. I look forward to working with you!
