Hi! My name is Hanif, and I'm here to help students with environmental, anthropological, and social science-based report writing.
I’ve conducted research on megafauna and agrarian economies in Kenya, published a paper for the European Journal of Social Science Studies, written a thesis on the nexus of historiography and religious pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, and authored several reports for the National Park Service on environmental conservation. The link between these works is an understanding of structure, research design, and literature analysis. My job is to help you craft creative research questions, organize your ideas, and write coherently and effectively.
I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in International Studies and a minor in Environmental Studies from Fordham University, where I concentrated in environmental dimensions of religious history and culture. Post-grad, I’ve been a social science research technician for the National Park Service for two years. My work is 60% field research and 40% data analysis and report writing. I’ve also worked as a social science research associate for the University of Texas at Austin, where I’ve collated and analyzed book data for the Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
I have three combined years of tutoring and mentoring experience: two years as a peer mentor for Composition I & II at Fordham, and one as a print and newswriting tutor. My preferred method of tutoring is one-on-one. I primarily conduct project-specific sessions. For example, a student brings in an assignment’s rubric and their idea or rough draft. From there we work fleshing out the thesis of their argument and create an essay/report structure. Lastly, we focus on proofreading and polishing together, paragraph by paragraph.
My aim is to help students with conceptual organization and framing, particularly as it pertains to theses, logical flow, and relevance to coursework or current events. If you need help structuring your essay, I’m more than happy to dive in with you!
