Hey, I’m Aahil! I am an incoming freshman at the University of Michigan studying Economics and English. I recently graduated from TJHSST (#1 public STEM High School).

In the last application cycle, I applied to 27 colleges and aimed for t20 schools. Unlike most other tutors and accepted candidates, I was not in the top 10 or 20% of my graduating class. However, I still received interest from UC Berkeley, UMich, UVA, UCSB, UNC-Chapel Hill, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and many more.

I figured out how to craft my essays to give top colleges a reason to consider me despite my sub-3.8 unweighted GPA. So, for any high school student aiming high in the application process but discouraged by scatterplots with only top students with top stats getting in, I know that feeling. That was me just last year, but your essays can change that.

I take an approach where we discuss your personal statement and supplemental prompts to craft essay topics that work cohesively to present yourself however you want. I believe in a discussion-oriented style where, through talking out essay outlines, anecdotes, and structure, students can figure out how to write their essays with just a little nudge – and during classes, I will work with students to edit their essays and help plan out topics and structures for the next supplemental.

This college-essay approach has worked well for TJ Prep, and all five of my students have been accepted. I have been tutoring essay writing for five years, tutoring over fifteen students, and I am so excited to help more students in the future.
