I am an experienced educator, writing coach, editor, and curriculum specialist with a PhD in Curriculum Leadership, an MFA in Creative Writing, a Master of Professional Studies in Publishing, and a master’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis. I also hold a Virginia teaching license in secondary English. My education has given me advanced training in academic writing, research, psychology, curriculum development, and effective teaching practices.
I have more than a decade of experience teaching and supporting high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in classroom, online, and one-on-one settings. As a university instructor, I teach composition, advanced research writing, and education courses. I also work individually with students on essays, research papers, literature reviews, dissertations, college application essays, APA formatting, editing, and revision. My professional editing and publishing experience helps students strengthen both their ideas and their writing.
My tutoring approach is supportive, structured, and individualized. I break complex assignments into manageable steps, use guided questions to help students develop their own ideas, and provide clear examples and actionable feedback. I adapt sessions to each learner’s goals, strengths, learning preferences, and confidence level. My goal is not simply to correct a student’s work, but to help the student understand the process and become a more confident, independent writer and learner.
