I have been a substitute teacher for almost 5 years. I have taught grades K-5. I have been a long term substitute teacher, ran my own classroom, and have been teaching at the same school as my two younger children for all of those 5 yrs. I also homeschooled my oldest child for 5th and 6th grade.
I became a substitute teacher not intending to love what I do so much. I was subbing part time while I was finishing my second degree and found I had a real gift and passion for teaching. As they say the rest is history. You know in that when you get up everyday and go to your place of employment and you love it, you have achieve what others only dream off. Teaching is my gift and passion.
I have and continue to teach all subjects from K-5. Reading and writing are my specialty and I have taught that subject for two years. When I teach reading, I evaluate the student to find out where their weakness is and we build from that point. I go over what the student is not strong in and make a lesson plan to build up where they are weak.
I have learned to relate to students in way that the student stays positive and never feels as if they are failing. I have learned over the years that students learn differently and a teacher has to be able to adapt to different teaching styles and come up with different teaching strategies for different students.
If you are a student that struggles with reading, reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, or anything that has to do with reading and writing, I can help improve these skills. K-5 ONLY.
