I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hollins University in 2020, with minors in Physics and Data Analytics. During my undergraduate studies, I was selected for the Quantitative Reasoning (QR) Student Tutor Program and worked as a quantitative reasoning tutor for the Math and Physics departments. Quantitative reasoning goes hand-in-hand with critical thinking, and helping students strengthen these skills improves both retention and problem-solving confidence. Through this work, I gained experience supporting both college and high school students.
Before beginning my college education, I spent a year working as a substitute teacher with the Isle of Wight County school system, primarily in middle school math and science classrooms. While I did not formally tutor middle school students, I regularly taught from prepared lesson plans and became comfortable supporting students in these subjects and age groups.
In 2024, I completed my Master’s degree in Space Operations, where I developed a strong understanding of the space industry’s functions, technologies, and economic landscape. This program further sharpened my analytical and critical thinking skills, particularly in applying economic reasoning to complex systems.
Outside of academics, I currently volunteer with my church’s youth Bible study program for students ages 11–18. This experience has helped me better understand the academic and personal challenges students face during these formative years. My tutoring approach focuses on identifying and addressing misunderstandings at their root, then building upward—both in subject knowledge and self-confidence. Rather than simply helping students complete assignments, my goal is to equip them with the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to work independently and without frustration.
