Hi there! I am delighted to hear that you or a family member is interested in learning Mandarin Chinese. It is one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn for native-English speakers. The written system has no alphabet and consists of over 50,000 characters. Each word/sound also requires use of one of 4 distinct tones. Although this may seem like a daunting undertaking, don't worry, I can help you navigate the complexities and achieve your language goals!

I have over 7 years of tutoring experience. I adapt my teaching method to each individual so that he or she feels comfortable learning. The following are recent successful tutoring cases:

1. A Japanese CPA Professional (Beginner Level): He was taking Chinese Level 1 class at school but struggling with pronunciation. We developed a strategy to correct his pronunciation and intonation until he was comfortable presenting in front of his classmates. He successfully moved to Level 2.
2. An American Business Manager (Intermediate Level): We practiced basic conversation in order to get him ready for a business trip to China.
3. A small business owner (Advanced Speaker): His listening and speaking skills were advanced, but wanted to improve his reading so that he could email his suppliers in Chinese. We identified and focused on the vocabulary and phrasing that he most often needs to communicate effectively. He now regularly uses Chinese to communicate and can even review contracts if necessary.
