High School Tutor Specializing In English Test Prep and Writing

Hello, I’m Elizabeth! I have a bachelor's degree in English and Writing, with a focus in Literature. I am passionate about helping students gain confidence and encouraging their love of learning.

I began tutoring in English test prep in 2024, focusing on verbal analogies, word knowledge/vocabulary, and reading comprehension. I have specific experience tutoring on materials from the SAT and AFOQT (Air Force Officer Qualifying Test). My previous tutoring experience was with college-aged students, but my current focus is on middle school and high school students. All of my previous experience has been one-on-one online.

My lesson plans for test prep are based around published study guides and official practice tests, though students are welcome to bring their own prep materials if they would like to work on specific areas. I teach by breaking topics down into their smallest components and making sure students are confident in the basics before gradually building until they can master more complicated ideas.
Writing tutoring follows a similar pattern of building from basics to more advanced skills.
Students are welcome to bring writing assignments they need help with, but the focus of tutoring will be on strengthening their overall writing abilities. Students will go over examples and learn to create strong thesis statements, build clear outlines, and confidently edit rough drafts.
