As a college professor for more than 20 years, I have a great deal of experience in a variety of subjects. History and Philosophy were my areas of study, but I also had to prepare Latin, Greek and French. I am very familiar with what teachers are looking for, and I am able to give my tutorees a great deal of insight into exactly how their assignments should be presented, along with being able to help them understand the content of whatever they are studying.

I am a great motivator as well, and I have a great deal of enthusiasm for learning in general, and I am very good at communicating that motivations to my students. I find all subjects fascinating, and that fascination is contagious to my tutorees. I am highly skilled in the Socratic method of teaching, where I do not simply give my students the answers but show them how to arrive at those answers on their own. I teach skills as well as content, skills that students can use in all of their endeavors and studies.

I have worked extensively in languages other than my own, so I know what kind of thinking is required for learning a new language. I know how important learning languages is, as it helps the mind expand the ways that thoughts can be expressed.

I have had extensive experience with international students, and have helped them increase their TOEFL scores between 15-20 points. I can teach the strategies that are so important for successful test taking, as well.

My scheduling is flexible, and I am happy to meet with students evenings or weekends if that is convenient for them. I am also fine with students contacting me at any time, for any reason, and I will respond right away. I would love to help students reach their scholastic goals, and I get excited about helping students to achieve!
