Hi! My name is Elizabeth W. in and I am a graduate nursing student at the University of Virginia. I recently graduated "cum laude" with my undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, where I majored in biology and minored in German Studies. I am the oldest daughter in a family of ten children and really enjoy working with young people. I have always taken a particular interest in education and love to connect with students as they learn, making instruction not only effective, but enjoyable, as well!
I am a very diligent and hard worker. I am fluent in German and have held various positions leading up to nursing school, including tutoring through Sylvan during college and working as a medical assistant and scribe. During my time at William and Mary, I was a laboratory teaching assistant of microbiology, was a member of two clubs in college and, for one of these, was honored to serve as vice president.
In high school, I was the student body president of my and graduated with highest honors. I was a member of three honor societies and also interned at the United States Embassy in Berlin, Germany. I was the mathematics student of the month twice at my high school and also received the award for AP Calculus AB along with a score of 5 on the AP German test.
I have experience in tutoring and working with children/teenagers, as I was a teacher's assistant for Algebra 1 at my high school, was an intern at a German-American Kindergarten in Berlin, Germany, and held multiple babysitting jobs. As I am still a student myself, I understand the importance of one-on-one interactions, personal connections, patience, and creativity. I will always give the students I tutor my full attention and will make sure they master their material well and completely. I will do my very best to make learning new concepts a fun and exciting experience for those I tutor, whether it be in math or German!
Please reach out to me to schedule a session or with any questions you may have! I look forward to meeting you!
