I love the feeling that a student 'gets it' for the first time, or sees something in a light they didn't before. My love of learning is something that I look to share with everyone I meet, especially my students. Having studied Mandarin Chinese for ten years and taught English in China, I know what it takes to acquire a second language and have proven the ability to help others do so. With my certification to teach English as a foreign language, I have successfully taught and tutored students from 3rd grade through 12th in Speaking, Reading, and, Writing English as a second language in China and look forward to helping others master the language on the Wyzant platform.
In addition to my experience teaching English, I have a great passion for history. This includes interpreting history at Colonial Williamsburg and Mount Vernon and preparing international students for high school history in the United States. My approach to teaching history is to look at it as a story, a fascinating tale of human events and interesting incidents, not as a boring list of dates. This makes the knowledge more understandable and more memorable for my students.
