I'm Millie! I'm an incoming freshman at Caltech, where I plan to major in physics, and a recent graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. I have over five years of tutoring and teaching experience in mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics, and SAT preparation.

I've worked with middle and high school students both one-on-one and in groups. Through Schoolhouse, I've tutored students individually and led multi-week SAT Bootcamps, and through my school's astronomy competition club, I regularly taught physics and mathematics to groups of 20+ students. I also work as an Explainer at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, where I communicate scientific concepts to visitors with a wide range of ages and backgrounds. These experiences have taught me how to adapt my explanations to each student's background, learning style, and confidence level.

My goal as a tutor is not just to help students arrive at the correct answer, but to help them become more confident approaching unfamiliar problems independently. I’ve found that students build this confidence best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges. To achieve this, I select practice problems based on each student’s needs, giving them opportunities to reason through challenging questions while I provide guidance and support as needed.

I'm comfortable tutoring mathematics through multivariable calculus and linear algebra; high school and AP Physics; general and AP Chemistry; AP Statistics; and SAT Math and Reading/Writing. I earned 5s on AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism, and AP Chemistry, as well as a 790 SAT Math score, 770 SAT Reading and Writing score, and a perfect PSAT/NMSQT score.

Whether you're preparing for an exam, working through a challenging course, or improving your SAT score, I'd love to help you become a more confident and independent problem solver!

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I earned a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam, including a 5 on the AP Calculus AB subscore, and for the past two years, I have peer-tutored students in AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and multivariable calculus. I tutor limits and continuity, differentiation, related rates, integration, differential equations, applications of integration and differentiation, parametric and polar functions, sequences and series, vectors and quadric surfaces, differential and integral multivariable calculus and applications, and vector calculus. I focus on breaking difficult concepts into manageable steps, helping students visualize abstract ideas, and using challenging practice problems to build deeper understanding. Students I’ve worked with have reported improved performance on quizzes, tests, and exams after preparing together.
Physics

Physics

I earned 5s on both the AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism exams, and I have spent the past two years peer tutoring students in AP- and honors-level physics. I have also completed and peer-tutored more advanced coursework in quantum physics and electrodynamics, which has strengthened my overall foundation in physics. I tutor kinematics, forces, work and energy, momentum, rotational motion and torque, oscillations, electric charge, fields and potential, Gauss’s law, circuits, and magnetic fields. I have worked with peers on test preparation, test corrections, lab reports, and homework, with a focus on helping students break problems into manageable steps and identify the physical relationships and equations that apply.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a 790 on the Math section of the SAT and have spent the past two years tutoring SAT Math both one-to-one and in groups. Through Schoolhouse.world, I have worked individually with students and led multi-week SAT Bootcamps focused on math preparation. I tailor sessions to the question types and concepts each student finds most challenging, teach students how to use tools such as the Desmos calculator effectively, and share multiple approaches to solving problems. I also help students develop test-taking strategies, pacing techniques, and confidence for test day.
