I have known that I wanted to be an educator since I was about 13. As soon as I graduated I began coaching field hockey which is another passion of mine. I have been coaching for about six years and currently run a high school field hockey program as the head coach. I received my associates degree from Germanna and my bachelors in secondary social studies 6-12 from Liberty university. I worked my way through school so I could pay it off and graduated debt free. I have roughly 4 years of teaching experience.
I first taught summer school in a high incidence middle school special needs class room. I then became an algebra I specialist at a high school specializing in remediation and sol prep. After that I moved to my current high school where I taught for a year as a special education and learning disabilities teacher. In this role I had to manage lots of students needs and balance working with multiple different subjects in one day. After that I did several long term subbing jobs (world history, AP psychology, and geography). I now am a long term sub at a high school teaching geography, sociology, and economics and personal finance. I just got my degree and licensure. I hope to use my experience to continue to help students while working for myself.
I know that not all learners are the same. Learning doesn't have a right answer. Everyone can find something that works for them and helps them grow.
