Hello, budding Historians! I have a Bachelors in Art History from Virginia Tech, and I am currently an Educator at a history museum. I work with ages K-12 designing educational materials that align with Virginia SOL Standards. My passion is teaching history through a visual perspective, I find that a work of art or material culture can allow students to approach a topic by using the creators methods and product as a reflection or commentary on that topic.
I understand that people learn and respond in different ways, and lessons must be tailored to work with that. When working with someone new I like to start by getting to know what they are learning, how they learn, and why they are learning this subject. I also like to learn a little about their teach or professor to better understand how they material is being offered and graded.
I took part in a Summer Studio at one of the best Architecture schools in the country, I also have experience working with different art mediums which gives me hands-on experience and a better understanding of the process of creation. My major GPA was a 3.9, and I was able to complete the coursework early and graduate a semester early.
My coursework in school covered European and American History through an art historical survey, and in my current position I am involved with researching American history every day.
