Hello! My name is Colleen and I have experience with tutoring and classroom assistance for children and youth from Elementary through Middle and High School and beyond. I have 4+ years of experience supporting elementary age youth academically in after school programs with an additional 4 years supporting middle and high school students with academic and behavioral struggles in the classroom setting. I also have previous experience as a volunteer tutor teaching ESOL to an adult native Spanish speaker.
With a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a background in youth behavioral health, I am especially fond of assisting those with behavioral and learning disabilities and those who may need extra support and creative techniques in order to comprehend the materials taught in the traditional academic setting.
With my own love for learning, I appreciate the ability to aid others in accomplishing academic success in addition to helping others create their own passion for education and mastery of skills. My strengths include reading, writing, and math, in addition to test-taking and study skills and information comprehension.
In all the work I do, I am dedicated to doing all I can do support the success of my students. Bringing patience, compassion, empathy, perseverance, and creativity to the tutoring experience, as well as my own personal knowledge, is a fundamental part of my approach. In whatever way I can, I hope to be not only an excellent teacher, but a guide and support throughout the learning journey!
