I was the first teacher in Roanoke County Public Schools to achieve National Board Certification. I was certified in Adolescent and Young Adulthood Science. I also taught graphing calculator classes for teachers across Virginia when I worked for Appalachian Education Laboratory. Currently, I substitute and tutor biotechnology at the Roanoke Valley Governor's School.
Tutoring is challenging because of the different learning styles of students, but personally rewarding when students achieve and show understanding.
I have 33 years of classroom experience in all fields of physical and biological sciences and have tutored for Roanoke County and Roanoke City Public Schools.
SOL tutoring and remediation played a large part of my tutoring when I retired from being a full-time classroom teacher. And I also served as an adjunct professor of science teachers at Hollins University.
Please contact me, Leigh McKay, if you need tutoring in Biology, Anatomy/Physiology, Ecology, or Earth Science.
