I have several years' experience as a language tutor. I began tutoring Spanish for fellow high school students in my junior year of high school. At Virginia Commonwealth University, I tutored Spanish for two years and ran conversation groups for both languages, Spanish and Italian. I recently graduated with my MA in Spanish from the University of Virginia. During my time at UVA, I was a graduate teaching assistant for two years, and I taught intermediate Spanish to undergraduate students. I started a PhD program at the University of Miami in Literary, Cultural, and Linguistic studies in August 2021, with a focus on Latin American literature. I really love helping students grow in their language skills and develop a passion for the cultures and languages I care about!
I am very passionate about the subjects I tutor. Not only am I very familiar with teaching grammar, but I also have extensive knowledge about culture and literature. In my teaching experience at UVA with undergraduate students, I not only taught the grammar, but I incorporated cultural lessons as well and literature. Since I have a M.A. degree in Spanish (with a focus on Hispanic literature), I can also help students increase their reading comprehension skills. My coursework in pursuing my PhD in linguistic, cultural, and literary studies also adds to my expertise.
I'm looking forward to working with new students! Please feel free to contact me, as I'm available most days of the week.
