Hi! My name is Aparna. I have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and over 10 years of experience tutoring in Math, Science and Communication.

I have an extensive background in Math that comes from my engineering degree. I have also been a math tutor for a number of years and use real world examples to help students understand hard concepts. I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Physics Mechanics, Reading/Writing (for 2nd - 5th graders), and Communication (how to present in front of an audience)

My approach to tutoring is to work closely with students to help them understand hard concepts, and confidentially solve them. I help by going through the concepts first, and using metaphors to explain. Then I give the student multiple practice problems to allow them to practice and firmly understand how to solve the problem. I also focus on making sure students manage their stress well. I know working on subjects that are difficult can cause cause students to panic. I work hard to help them develop good study habits and healthy outlooks on learning.

I truly enjoy tutoring. The look on a student's face when they understand a topic makes the extra work worth it. I love helping people and I want to help you! I specialize in tutoring K - College level courses. Working with people of all ages to understand problems is something I'm not only good at, but I enjoy doing.

I have multiple years of cooking experience, both as a home chef and within the restaurant industry. I worked at a local bakery/coffee shop for 3 years as a pastry chef. I have experience teaching cooking lessons on a local scale as well. I specialize in vegetarian and vegan recipes. I also specialize in teaching classic south Indian recipes.

Through a local library program, I worked with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders every summer from 2012 - 2016. During this summer program, I helped the kids understand math to get ahead in the school year. While in College I tutored several 1st and 2nd graders in general core studies. Since graduating, I have been tutoring several elementary students.

I was a competitive gymnast and dancer for 10 years. After leaving the studio, I spend every week focusing on exercise and health. I have also helped teach general fitness at a local dance and yoga studio, specifically for elementary and middle school kids.
