I have my bachelors and masters degrees in Mathematics, and have been a private tutor for 10 years for all grade school level math subjects. I taught Calculus at Wake Forest University as a graduate student, and was a dedicated tutor and TA for all of our college level math courses. My deep love for mathematics and and passion for learning is what makes me an outstanding private tutor.

Math isn't a "one size fits all" subject -- it's not about memorizing facts and problems, it's about understanding concepts and applying those concepts to specific problems. My goal as an educator is to take my deep understanding of mathematics and to work with you, my student, to find the best way to present the concept to you as an individual. Often you are struggling with a subject because you were not able to internalize a concept the way it was presented to you the first time; you just need someone to figure out what will make the most sense to you.
Being an effective tutor involves more than quick help right before a quiz or with a specific assignment. Since math builds on itself, it is also my goal to discover any previous deficiencies in your understanding and to reinforce these so that you will not struggle moving forward. This often means providing practice problems outside of the specific course material and checking in on your understanding of these concepts every meeting until I'm sure that you are comfortable with them.
The most rewarding experience as a tutor is the moment I help my students achieve an "aha" moment with an idea they have been struggling with. It hurts my heart to hear anyone say "I'm just bad at math," and my mission is to convince you otherwise!
If you are interested in a tutor who is invested in your success and understanding of mathematics, please reach out to me! I'd love to meet you.
