Hello, I am Shebony F. of Richmond, Va. and a Cum Laude graduate of Norfolk State University. At NSU, I majored in Foreign Language (Spanish) and my degree was is Spanish Literature. As I studied for my degree, I also studied French as well as tutored students in both languages. Upon graduating, I taught 8th, 9th and 10th Spanish and French on the High School and Middle School levels. I enjoyed teaching and tutoring students in subjects where they are week. I'm also very proud when my students improve in the subjects that were a challenge for them.
Currently, I have over 8 years of teaching Spanish to grades K-5th. I taught through a program called FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary School) as well as to English and ESL students. Also, I administered education to meet the needs of grades K-5th, according to Virginia Standards of Learning and implemented the Spanish Curriculum, in a method that challenges cognizance, by using a variety of teaching manipulatives, materials and resources. Acknowledging the various styles of learning, I assisted with the goals and objectives in the Individualized Education Program(IEP), which focuses on offsetting of reducing the problems resulting from the child's disability that may interfere with learning and educational performance.
My Spanish qualifications started in 6th grade as a exploratory class. I found it to be very interesting and I grasped the language's foundation. I continued to study the language through out high school and college as well as traveled to Italy, France & Spain with EF Tours. As a educator and tutor, I'm able to introduce and strengthen a child's ability to learn and understand the language with grade level appropriate lessons and resources.
In closing, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with any student who interested in learning all there is to know about the Spanish Language. I'm also seeking to prepare our children for the diverse country that we live in. I look forward to working with you all soon.
