Hello students and parents, I started my career as a professional architect. I have always enjoyed both mathematics and art and this was a way for me to have both in one career. While raising my children, I decided to switch to teaching mathematics and spent time going back to college and training for this new career.

While raising my children, I decided to switch to teaching mathematics and spent time going back to college and training for this new career.

I am fully licensed to teach math 6-12 in Virginia and I continued my professional development by completing a math education masters degree. I have tutored 1:1 in a tutoring lab and in my community, as well as worked full time as a math teacher. I specialize in algebra I and II, geometry and SAT (math / verbal) but have experience in all middle school mathematics and high school math up to trigonometry.

I taught a summer enrichment preparation course for students entering Algebra I in the 8th grade - 3 summers at Henrico County public schools. I taught Algebra I full time for 2 years.

Licensed Virginia math 6-12. Currently in graduate school and 3/4 complete for math masters of education.
Praxis

Praxis

Students wanting to enter the teacher licensure program are required to take praxis core tests prior to admission. These tests include english and math subject material. As a secondary mathematics teacher, I was required to take a similar english and writing test called the VCLA and the Praxis 2 test for high school math teachers to teach grades 6-12. As a licensed 6-12 math teacher, I am qualified to teach content on the core tests which is math content up to grade 9. I have successful tutored a student already that entered the program this year.

SOL

I taught math in the public school system for 2 full time years. My subjects were Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra Functions. The second year the test was changed in Virginia to a longer, more difficult test. I still achieved a passing rate of 78% which was way above the state average. I have also worked as a private tutor at a tutoring center, helping students with SOL preparation. They all have passed their tests.

Katherine has been fantastic with my 14 year old daughter. After only 2 sessions, my daughter feels so more comfortable in class and when doing her homework. She left her exam feeling confident about Geometry for the first time this year.
