I am a secondary English educator currently pursuing a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (English) at the University of Richmond. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Teaching with concentrations in English and Geography, along with a Diploma of Education, and have completed additional cross-institutional coursework at multiple universities. My academic background is grounded in literature, composition, critical analysis, and culturally responsive pedagogy, and I have completed professional training in inclusive practices, dyslexia awareness, trauma-informed education, and behavior intervention. This preparation allows me to support students with diverse learning needs while maintaining high academic expectations.
I currently tutor high school students one-on-one through Varsity Tutors, working with learners ranging from early high school through AP English Language & Composition. My tutoring experience includes reading comprehension, analytical and argumentative writing, essay development, grammar, and test preparation. I tailor each session to the individual student, using diagnostic questioning, guided practice, and targeted feedback to strengthen skills and build confidence. I also have classroom-based experience through field observations and pre-service teaching placements, where I worked with students from sophomore to senior levels in both small-group and whole-class settings.
My tutoring approach is student-centered and relationship-driven. I focus on helping students understand not just what to write or read, but why strategies work, so they can apply skills independently. I emphasize clarity, organization, and critical thinking, while encouraging students to find their own voice. As both an educator and a caregiver for children with special needs, I bring patience, adaptability, and empathy to every session. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel capable, motivated, and empowered to succeed academically.
