I am an Old Dominion University Psychology senior with a 4.0 GPA. I previously graduated cum laude with an Associate of Science from Brightpoint Community College and have 3–5 years of experience developing open-access educational content at Wikiversity, where I am a volunteer administrator and have been a contributor to the platform since 2010 (age 7!). My work there has been developing course and learning module content for diverse learner populations, ranging from elementary-level students through adult post-secondary learners. Some of those resources have been used and cited by students worldwide, which I see as evidence that my work is making a positive educational impact, and I was praised as an exceptional writer by my freshman-year writing instructor. Additionally, in the 8th grade, I became the first student in three years to pass the Virginia Algebra SOL at the advanced level, highlighting my strong math foundation.
I have direct one-on-one teaching experience with middle-school-aged children, where I taught religious scripture alongside basic reading and comprehension skills. It showed me how to adapt explanations, illustrations, and pace for a student's age, background, and learning style. These are skills I apply while teaching my subjects, Algebra I, American History, ESL, essay writing, and grammar. I have taught lessons in various formats (particularly one-on-one online teaching and independent online course materials), and I factor in the student's context (homework, test-taking preparation, or skill acquisition) when planning lessons.
My approach is structured and results-driven: I begin with a brief check to identify gaps, create clear learning goals with the student, present content in brief, incremental steps, and offer targeted practice with concrete feedback.
