As an English teacher, it has always been my goal to teach students the most important skill: to use their voice. As an English teacher, it has always been my goal to teach students the most important skill: to use their voice. While I emphasize growth and results, I also find it important to make it fun and show the true beauty in language arts. I find immense joy in helping others enhance their communication skills and have not only helped them succeed in the classroom, but with my editing and feedback, I have helped them get into college and even medical school!
Prior to teaching, I obtained an A.A. in Communications Studies, a B.A. in English Literature, and an M.A. in Teaching along with a California Teaching Credential. After student teaching in the high school level, I then taught for 7th grade ELA for four years in public school. Here, I also conducted after-school tutoring twice a week for struggling students. In my fifth year, however, I taught high school yet again but for an online academy. I have taught students of high socioeconomic status, low socioeconomic status, in-person, online, etc. This range of experiences has equipped me with the skills to effectively help any student achieve success.
