I have been a RN for 22 years and have been teaching nursing students for 10 years at the RN and LPN levels. I have tutored students for 6 years both in-person and virtually. I am passionate about teaching and helping students to become safe and competent nurses! I'm known for my nurturing personality and my students refer to me as 'Mama Brandy.' Lol. I teach both novice and senior level nursing students in the classroom, lab, and simulation. While I love teaching in these settings, due to the number of students and time constraints, it is difficult to do much remediation/tutoring on-on-one or even in small groups. I have a very nurturing personality and enjoy helping students either one-on-one or in small groups because the teaching/learning process is more personalized and enhanced. I have a Master's degree in nursing education, and I'm a certified nurse educator (CNE) as well as a certified healthcare simulation educator (CHSE). My teaching methods include utilizing various resources, handouts, visual aids; I also use socratic questioning to help students critically think through a situation as opposed to me simply giving the student the answer.
