Hi, I’m Tim — a Principal Financial Analyst with a Master’s degree in Finance and a lifelong passion for helping others understand challenging concepts. I specialize in math (from middle school through Algebra 2), finance, and Excel, and I bring both academic depth and real-world experience to my tutoring sessions.
My professional background in the defense industry means I use numbers every day to solve complex problems — from cost analysis to forecasting and data modeling. I enjoy breaking down concepts in a way that makes sense to students, whether they’re preparing for an exam or trying to gain practical skills for a job.
I first began tutoring over 20 years ago, helping fellow high school and college students in math and physics. More recently, I’ve been actively involved in homeschooling my daughter, where I’ve had the opportunity to adapt lessons for her learning style and see firsthand how encouragement and a step-by-step approach can transform confidence. That one-on-one experience has reminded me of how rewarding tutoring can be — especially when students feel supported and capable.
My approach is patient, conversational, and tailored. I start by identifying what the student understands and where the gaps are, then build from there using practical examples. I focus on helping students develop not just answers, but problem-solving strategies they can use across subjects.
Whether you’re a parent of a student who’s struggling with math, a high schooler prepping for the SAT, or an adult looking to sharpen your Excel and financial skills, I’d be glad to help.
