Hi! My name is Mary, and I have two bachelor's degrees, one in Psychology (B.S.) and one in Criminal Justice (B.S.). I also hold a master's degree in Psychology (M.S.). These specialties required expertise in many different subjects during my time in college, including math, science, history, and literature/writing. I have a very strong foundation in all major subjects at a college level, and a strong specialized skillset in Criminal Justice and Psychology studies.
I have taught preschool and elementary aged students for many years in after school/preschool settings, as well as undergraduate students in the Psychology program as interns in laboratories. I have also tutored students of all ages, from K-12 to college, over the years in many different subjects. I would be happy to help with any of these areas!
The four guiding principles in my teaching philosophy include creating an equitable learning environment, engaging in self-reflection, encouraging learning from mistakes and failures, and providing real-world applications. These philosophies allow me to create a learning experience in which a student feels respected, seen, and encouraged.
