I graduated from high school in 2022 with 12 5's on AP Exams, a 99th percentile SAT score, and nearly 50 credits in philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University. Hi! I'm Margaret, but I go by my middle name, Cooper. I graduated from high school in 2022 with 12 5's on AP Exams, a 99th percentile SAT score, and nearly 50 credits in philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am now entering my third year studying for a BA in Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin literature, history, and philosophy) at the University of Oxford, where I have won several university prizes and scholarships. I love learning, but what I most love is watching others' faces light up as they see the answer to a problem or grasp the meaning of a poem.

In high school, I served as a TA for online classes in AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP US History, and AP Statistics. I marked and left detailed feedback on student work (essays and FRQs), met one-on-one with students who desired extra help, and led review sessions for sections (4-8 students) and entire classes (up to 30 students) where I guided them through past AP exam papers. These students overwhelmingly received 5's on their exams.

While in high school, I was also a part-time college student. In my senior year, I was employed by the philosophy department as a tutor. I worked 15 hours a week at the department, offering one-on-one teaching to college students taking Introduction to Philosophy, Logic, Ethics, Philosophy of Religion, and Aesthetics. At Oxford, I have continued to assist other students.

My teachers changed my life; they made learning exciting and exposed me to books and ideas I will always treasure. I seek to do the same for my students. Whether it is the SAT, Latin, or AP English Literature, I believe that the best way to begin learning and improving is by beginning to enjoy the subject -- by, that is, beginning to have fun (even on standardized tests!).

Please feel free to reach out with questions or to schedule a lesson. I respond promptly and love working with students and parents to offer the most valuable instruction possible.

Classics

Classics

I am in my third year of the BA Literae Humaniores (Classics) at the University of Oxford, home to the world's largest and most eminent classics department. I received a 5 on the AP Latin exam and have won several prizes and scholarships while at Oxford. I read Latin and Ancient Greek fluently and have experience tutoring students studying Vergil, Caesar, Cicero, Catullus, Homer, Thucydides, Lysias, Pindar, and Plato. I assist students not only with grammar and reading comprehension but also with understanding their texts' political, literary, and social contexts. I can provide or advise on extracurricular study for gifted and motivated students, and enjoy nothing more than sharing my passion for the ancient world with others.
Logic

Logic

I have studied logic at the University of Oxford (where I passed my exams in the subject with highest honors) and tutored university students in the subject. I can teach classical logic through predicate logic and predicate logic with identity. I would also be open to tutoring a student in non-classical and modal logic.
