I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art and have been teaching art to middle and high school students for nearly ten years. During this time, I have served as the Art Department Head at a public charter school in Washington, DC, where I design and implement curriculum across multiple disciplines, including drawing, painting, and digital media. I also have experience as an AP Portfolio Reader for both AP 2-D Design and AP Drawing, evaluating high school students’ work according to national standards. These experiences have honed my ability to provide individualized feedback and help students develop their skills in both technical execution and creative expression.
In the classroom, I work with students ranging from 6th through 12th grade and have taught both beginner and advanced levels, including AP and honors courses. My approach is hands-on and student-centered; I focus on helping learners set achievable goals, understand foundational techniques, and explore creative problem-solving. I am comfortable adapting lessons for one-on-one or small group sessions, and I have successfully supported students in building strong portfolios for college applications.
