I’m Benjamin, and I’m a junior philosophy major at Hampden-Sydney a college. In high school, I did informal tutoring in geometry, algebra, and pre calculus, and I really enjoyed it. At Hampden-Sydney College, I am in our Mentoring Club, which works with Prince Edward County Public Schools to give young students a strong and caring role model to learn from, talk to, and befriend.

At Hampden-Sydney College, I am in our Mentoring Club, which works with Prince Edward County Public Schools to give young students a strong and caring role model to learn from, talk to, and befriend.
As much as I love tutoring the subjects I enjoy in order to pass them on to the next generation, what keeps me coming back is the relationships I develop with students and their parents. When I have a student who starts out unmotivated and uninterested, it’s so rewarding to watch them progress and gain confidence in their abilities, and ultimately that’s my goal: to give students the confidence they need to keep learning, pursuing their interests, and dreaming big.
I took Logic as a college freshman and I loved it. I got an A in the class, and I plan to take it again just for fun.
I took French for four years in high school and continued with it in college. I almost studied abroad at the Université Grenoble Alpes in the summer of 2020, but the pandemic prevented that.
I am the news editor for the Hampden-Sydney College newspaper, a Feature Section editor for our Journal of the Sciences, and I was asked to be a rhetoric tutor at our Rhetoric Center.
I’ve played guitar since March of 2020. I was self-taught until the spring of 2021 when I took guitar lessons through my school. I have given informal guitar lessons before, and I am beginning to perform in public at bars, restaurants, etc.
I played soccer on travel and club teams until I graduated high school. I co-captained New Kent’s JV team in my sophomore year and our Varsity team in my senior year.
If you have any questions for me, please reach out and say hello. I look forward to hearing from you!
