I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska , and an MS in Electrical Engineering from USC. I am an accomplished engineer specializing in RF (radio frequency) and microwave design for satellite payloads. I have years of experience in multiple highly technical roles, solving problems and developing designs to meet critical requirements. Prior to stepping away from tutoring for several years, I tutored high school students ( 58 over 4 years) in algebra, precalculus, calculus, and physics.

In working with students, I strive to help them understand and apply the material, not just memorize answers or just `get by'. It is only in this way that a student will retain the subject material and be ready to apply this knowledge to the next class or subject requiring the current class as a prerequisite.

I have found over the years that mathematics can be very nonlinear to some students. In other words, a small bit of fear or insufficient understanding of a concept can lead to significant problems with homework, and most certainly, examinations. I endeavor to root out these hindrances to the student's understanding. In testing situations it is important to learn how to quickly parse a problem into its constituent parts, thus enabling the student to more quickly identify the path to its solution. In many cases, once the problem area is resolved, the student can handle the material themself. That is my goal. My other subjects of physics and electrical engineering (EE) have their own peculiarities as well.

I have recently published a second edition of my book, "High Power HF Filter Design". The book spans 468 pages, encompassing over 525 equations and 400 figures. The book is written in Latex, a program widely used in the technical fields for documentation, as well as masters and PhD theses.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I am a practicing electrical engineer with many years of experience in all types of mathematics. It all began, however, with mastery of Algebra 1 concepts that I can help you understand as well. Mathematics builds on one class after another, so an understanding of Algebra 1 concepts is of paramount importance.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

While I have many years' experience with linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, and random processes or probability theory, my success and yours is contingent on an understanding of Algebra II concepts. I can help you master these concepts as well as possibly identify Algebra 1 weaknesses that need to be strengthened.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I am a practicing electrical engineer primarily in the areas of RF (radio frequency), microwave theory, and digital communications. I have experience in other areas to include antennas, switch mode power converters, system theory (link budgets, cascaded NF, intercept point, etc.) and general linear/analog circuit theory. I recently completed my second book on high power HF filter design which encompasses 468 pages, over 525 equations, and 400 figures.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have a Masters in electrical engineering from USC, specializing in RF (radio frequency) and microwave engineering. I enjoy continual on the job use of math from algebra through calculus and differential equations, so precalculus is comfortable to me. My years of professional engineering experience and tutoring students allow me to identify a student's problems and areas of misunderstanding quickly.

Knowledgeable, organized, methodical, good communication

Jeff messaged with me before the lesson to get an idea of where we were at and establish expectations. He showed up to the lesson with an illustrated explanation of the principles we decided to start with and walked me through the process in a very clear, digestible and methodical way. Lesson illustrations were shared after the lesson for use as reference. Teaching is its own skill and Jeff clearly demonstrates that his teaching ability matches his engineering knowledge. Highly recommend
