For me, math has never just been about crunching numbers or plugging values blindly into a formula, It is just a puzzle of problem-solving and real-world application. I have taught Foundational College Algebra at South University, Calculus and Technical Math at Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University. Over a decade of university-level instruction and tutoring has shaped how I mentor students 1-on-1. Having earned my Bachelors at Batten University (formerly Virginia Wesleyan University) and my Masters in Computational and Applied Mathematics at ODU, I bring a strong analytical background to every session. My goal as a tutor is always to help students internalize core concepts rather than getting bogged down in mechanical steps. Because every student learns differently, I start by assessing where they feel stuck and tailoring my approach to their unique background. Instead of just giving away answers, I guide students through tricky problems so they can actively see why a mathematical tool works. I remind my students right off the bat that there is no such thing as a stupid question. I want to create a low-stress environment where students feel comfortable taking risks. Tutoring keeps me sharp and enriches my own scholarship as a data analyst.
