Hi, my name is Habiba (pronounced Ha-bee-ba) and I recently graduated from college with a BA in Environmental Geosciences with a minor in Communications. While earning my degree, I developed a strong foundation in math, science, and writing, both creative and professional. My background in these subjects helps me explain concepts in a way that feels simple, practical, and engaging for students of all ages.
My tutoring journey began during the pandemic, when I worked with distance learning students aged 5 to 13 in math and science. Helping children stay motivated and confident through such a challenging time taught me the importance of creativity, and encouragement. I enjoyed finding fun, everyday examples to make tough topics click and watching students light up when they finally understood something new. I’ve also spent several summers volunteering to teach English across West African countries, helping young learners build their reading, writing, and conversation skills. In addition to tutoring I write scientific articles for various publications, and provide editing and proofreading services.
I believe every student learns differently, and my approach is to get to know what helps them, absorb topics the best, break down big ideas into small steps, and creating a comfortable space to ask questions. I look forward to working with you! I’m always easy to reach and quick to respond if you ever have questions or need to schedule a session, and I welcome any feedback.
