Hi, I'm Katherine. I graduated magna cum laude with bachelor's degrees in Linguistics and Spanish, and a minor in Korean. I received my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from the University of Arizona, and I will be teaching English in Korea next year as a Fulbright ETA (English Teaching Assistant) grantee.
I enjoy figuring out how to explain concepts and coming up with the best methods for instruction in a given area. I specialize in teaching American English pronunciation, for which I draw from both my native fluency and my background in Linguistics. I can also tutor intermediate Spanish and beginner Korean. My goal as an instructor is to equip my students with strategies to further their language skills both independently and in interactions with others.
In the past year, I taught a class of adult ESL (English as a Second Language) students in Speaking & Listening skills, and we all enjoyed having class together so much that we continued to meet for several weeks after term ended. Afterwards, I continued working with one of my students in one-on-one tutoring. We were able to focus much more precisely on his personal study and the skills he wished to improve, and I helped him build language-learning habits to help him keep his learning going even after the conclusion of our lessons.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals!
