My name is Mahbub. I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Biochemistry from East Tennessee State University. Prior to that, I completed both my Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completing my Ph.D., I spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at Virginia Tech, followed by two years as a molecular biologist in the dNTP lab, and most recently, two years conducting research at the FDA.

These academic and professional experiences have built a strong foundation in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Chemistry, along with proficiency in Algebra, Trigonometry, and foundational mathematics. I have always been inspired by educators who connected complex scientific concepts to real-world examples—an approach that now defines my own teaching style.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve gained extensive teaching experience in biology and biochemistry across multiple levels. For five years during my Ph.D., I taught undergraduate and master’s students in Biochemistry of Macromolecules and Biochemistry of Metabolism (class sizes ~80), incorporating both lectures and labs to emphasize core principles and molecular techniques.

I also taught Plant Biology to smaller groups (~40 students), covering plant structure, function, and metabolism. Additionally, I taught Genetics and Molecular Biology to large freshman classes of around 200 students, using active learning strategies, visual aids, and real-life examples to maintain engagement and understanding.

My teaching integrates project-based learning and emphasizes data analysis, biochemical calculations, and experimental design. I strive to foster critical thinking and scientific curiosity through a student-centered, interdisciplinary approach that prepares students for academic and professional success.
