I graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting and a double minor in Piano Performance and Theatre Arts. I both received and want to give a holistic musical education that touches the soul as much as the mind.

I have experience teaching beginner and early intermediate musicians of all ages, and I try to incorporate a good balance of theory, musicianship, and practical technique into each lesson to create a solid musical foundation ... while also having tons of fun!

I give lessons out of my smoke-free home in Hanover Farms. Family may sit in on lessons, if they would like, but I am centrally located should you want to run errands during lesson time.

At LU, I took four semesters of Musicianship, an intense class that specializes in ear training (chord qualities and progressions, intervals, rhythms, etc.) I have also been involved in choirs both as a volunteer and as a student. I have excellent relative pitch and can harmonize by ear.
General Music

I have participated in several musicals; I have put together sets with other musicians in an academic setting; I have learned basic conducting; I have experience in Finale and Pro Tools; I have participated in district choirs; and I have served on church worship teams for 8 years.

Liberty University requires graduates to take four semesters of music theory, which is then put into practice for the remainder of the student's academic career.

I graduated with a minor in Piano Performance. I have taught several piano students with a wide age range at the beginner and intermediate level for over 3 years. I have been employed at a music studio and I have taught out of my home.
Songwriting

As part of my training, I was required to write songs for at least 6 hours per week; I was given private songwriting lessons by both Don Marsh, an accomplished arranger, and Nirva Ready, an experienced performer and songwriter; I participated in workshops, masterclasses, and programs geared towards songwriters; I have experience in a recording studio; I have written music in several different genres; and I currently write music for my church.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I have been singing for over 20 years, specializing in modern genres including pop and musical theatre. I studied both classical and modern technique under Professor Nirva Ready at LU. Among other performances, I wrote and sang an original Christmas song (arranged by Bradley Knight) for the University's annual Christmas celebration. I use my skills weekly as a worship leader and voice teacher.
