Experienced Math and Biology Tutor

Hi there! I am a first year medical student with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry. I was top of my class in both majors and achieved a 3.9 GPA overall. However, I really struggled with Math during my freshmen of high school. With continuous practice and the help of an amazing tutor, I was able to get back on track and actually ended up taking all Honors and AP math courses in the following years.

During my senior year of high school, I discovered my passion for connecting with students through tutoring and helping each and every one of them feel confident in their knowledge. I quickly joined the math tutoring club in my school, where students in AP and Honors math were able to tutor students in regular math courses and fell in love with it. Throughout undergrad I have tutored in subjects such as elementary and middle school math, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Biology. I prepare beforehand for each 1:1 session, ensuring that I have a set of student goals and the adequate materials to achieve them. I approach my classes with an individualized method, aiming to learn about each student's struggles, learning strategies and goals. I introduce new material in a fun and engaging way, relating it to activities/interests that the student has. Confidence is also something that I aim to work on with my students, ensuring that they feel comfortable in asking any questions they might have and leave each session feeling more comfortable with the material than before. I welcome any material the student might have but also supplement with extra worksheets and review problems.

After each session, I ask my students for feedback and reflect on how I can modify my future sessions to better assist each student. My schedule is flexible and I am responsive to my students outside of sessions with any quick questions they might have.
