Bio

I am a state certified mathematics teacher that has been teaching classes from Algebra I to AP Calculus for the past 25 years. For the past 11 years I have been teaching Geometry and Precalculus (including Trigonometry) to high school students. I am a state certified mathematics teacher that has been teaching classes from Algebra I to AP Calculus for the past 25 years. For the past 11 years I have been teaching Geometry and Precalculus (including Trigonometry) to high school students. The Precalculus class is a dual enrollment class with the local community college. I have taught AP/Dual Enrollment Calculus for more than 5 years as well. This year I traded two Statistics classes for two Algebra II Honor's classes. It's been a fun journey to get back into the Algebra II curriculum after a short break.

I enjoy working one-on-one with students after school or during breaks in the school day. I gave up coaching to be available to work with students after school. I am currently a private mathematics tutor to a 14 year home school student.

In 2008 I earned a Master's of Mathematics Education degree from James Madison University. After graduation I was contacted by the Mathematic's Department Head and offered a position to teach Elementary Functions (equivalent to high school Precalculus course). I accepted and was an adjunct professor at the university for six semesters.

Beyond the classroom, I have created videos for IXL Learning. I have created videos for middle school mathematics, as well as some for Algebra I and Geometry.

I look forward to helping students take the next step to understand what they've been missing and challenging them to go beyond expectations.

I have been teaching Algebra 2 and higher for over 15 years. I've had a lot of success working individually with students. Many former students return after a year of college and thank me for preparing them for their college mathematics.

I have taught AP and Dual Enrollment calculus at my high school for almost 10 years. I've had many students return to me and thank me for preparing them for college calculus. I heard many statements similar to "Calculus was easy after I took your class."

I love proofs! I enjoy helping students understand the logic of proofs and developing the ability to write proofs. My goal is to take complex ideas and break them down into smaller easier to understand concepts.
