I have a BBA in Computer Information Systems from Howard University (1982) and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Marist College (1991). I was a 1985 recipient of the Outstanding Young Men of America Award. I served professionally as a computer programmer for more than 20 years and I have also career changed into the medical field. I have also completed Pre-Med studies (2003) as well as some nutrition studies and I have completed my BS Biology degree focusing in molecular biology (2014). My ultimate desire is to offer a potential contribution to the overall cure for many cancers. I work full time in a medical laboratory and I am also currently preparing to pursue part time, a Masters / PhD in Bioinformatics, by using my computer and biological background to formally analyze DNA sequences of various cancers and other disease states such as diabetes. I have passionately tutored math and science since 1984 and will continue to encourage students to be the absolute best that they can be.

I have had the wonderful privilege of tutoring math and science part time, at all levels, to students (K-12) since 1984. My experience enables me to quickly ascertain each student's best learning style (visual, audible, or a combination) and then teach accordingly. This quality is essential to facilitate the learning process as it is directly evidenced by each student's measurable progress and self-confidence. Many students also develop additional learning styles in this process. I also engage each student to become comfortable enough to present his or her topic of study to someone else. Some of my former students now teach others.

So, I am passionate with each student regarding his or her subject matter and encourage each one ultimately to consider passing on the knowledge to someone else thereby enhancing our global society.

I have had the opportunity to encourage many young adults to pursue the GED and pass it, so that they can position themselves for a promising future. I am able to present the material to each student in an understanding fashion according to his or her learning style and ability.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry incorporates many Algebra 1 concepts to help determine measurements of various structures (polygons, circular parts, etc.). I am able to present this material to students in a methodical fashion to facilitate understanding.
Nutrition

Nutrition

I took several nutrition couses at the University of the District of Columbia UDC) and Northern Virginia Community College. It was my major at UDC before I decided to switch to molecular biology to ultimately focus on cancer research, of which nutrition plays a major part in cancer prevention/cure. I understand how different foods are processed by the human body and possible effects on the body. For example and important particularly for diabetics, certain foods have a specific Glycemic index, which is an important factor in helping regulate blood sugar levels. Also, the body can convert a high fat diet to needed glucose to carry on glycolysis, but will ultimately end up in ketone body buildup, which would not be good in terms of body pH. Saturated fat contains hydrocarbons without any double bonds and too much can wreck havoc on the body in terms of overall health, etc...

Great tutor and patient!!!

We are a prior military family that just moved to Gainesville, unfortunately the last school district we were in was far behind most schools in VA. My daughter is in the 10th grade, and is taking PreAP Algebra. She was struggling because she wasn't taught certain concepts coming from our old school district and her current teacher assumes the students should already know this and doesn't take to the time to work with the students. My daughter currently has a "D" in her class and I was worried this would be the norm if I didn't take matters in my own hands. So I reached out to WyzAnt and found Anthony. I requested someone who could start right away because my daughter had test and quizzes coming up. I signed up on Friday and he was able to come out on Monday. She took two quizzes today and was so excited with the results she couldn't wait to call me at work when she got home. In one night Anthony was able to accomplish what her current Algebra teacher couldn't do since school started. I would recommend Anthony to any parent who's child needs help in Math as well as gaining their self confidence back. Thanks Anthony!!!

One lesson so far, but was time well spent

Anthony helped my daughter prepare for a Geometry test. She believes as a result of the tutoring session with Anthony that she did much better on the test than she would have. He was very patient and knowledgeable. We will schedule future tutoring sessions with Anthony as need arises.

Great tutor and will help me succeed!

I had trouble passing my TEAS math section and after failing for the third time I decided to seek help. With Anthony's help I was able to pass the TEAS. Anthony is really helpful, encouraging, & nonjudgmental. My last test percentile was 35 and today I scored a 66 which is double. I am extremely happy with my results and will recommend Anthony to anyone who is in need of some help to achieve their dreams.

Great Tutor!

I hired Anthony to help my 15-year-old daughter with Algebra. Anthony was very patient and equipped my daughter with a strong math foundation. He not only helped her improve her grades, but also gave her the confidence to continue on her own. I strongly recommend Anthony as a tutor.

The Turnaround Began After The First Session

Anthony is an excellent tutor. We have noticed a difference in our child's approach and true understanding of his A2 Trig class. Test grades are higher and confidence keeps getting higher. Excellent.

Knows his stuff!

I had difficulty understanding the concept of the area of a triangle and how it relates to the law of sines and cosines, that is until I met with Anthony. He explained the concept in layman's terms both clearly and effectively. I feel much more confident completing my Trigonometry work after meeting with Anthony & I definitely will be meeting with him again.
