Hello and thank you for considering me for your tutoring needs!
I am currently teaching pre-algebra to 7th and 8th grade students. This is my fifth year teaching. I am endorsed to teach middle-school math and my undergraduate degree is in psychology. My career has been at the intersection of education and mental health and I've worked in hospitals, private schools, charter schools, and public schools in a variety of roles.
I feel especially successful teaching algebra/pre-algebra because when I was in middle school, I did not "get" math at all and fell through every crack there was. This benefits me today because I can see where a student is getting lost and can hone in on a misconception or missing skill to help get back on track.
I pride myself on explaining things clearly, concisely, and as many times as needed and in as many different ways as needed until success. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is hearing what I call "The Sound of Learning": when a student who was having difficulty with a topic, suddenly "gets it" and says "OHHHHHHHHH!" Love it.
Any questions, just ask.
