I am a test prep and college admissions expert. With over 15+ years of experience helping students identify, then get accepted to, the best college for them, consider me your one-stop college shop! My previous students have been accepted to all 8 Ivies, UCB and UCLA, Stanford, UChicago, and UK schools including Oxford and Cambridge. I have extensive experience in SAT Verbal test preparation as well as the start-to-finish admissions process.

On a personal note, I grew up in Virginia, attending public schools, a public 'magnet' high school, and the University of Virginia. After completing graduate school (MBA) in Boston, I met my Japanese husband, lived in Tokyo for a decade, and recently returned to the Good Old US of A. I pride myself on connecting with each individual student based on his or her individual interests and goals.

In the past, I have taught students from 3 years old to seniors, but I have focused on teen learners. I have helped students from dozens of countries who wish to attend undergraduate or graduate school in an English-speaking country or program. I support English Proficiency Exam Prep (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo), Standardized Test Prep (SAT, GMAT, GRE), admissions essays, application strategy, school selection, interview preparation, and more.

In terms of other interests, I am a huge reader, love cooking and baking, enjoy travel and anything outdoors, and have studied FIVE foreign languages and earned my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. I am also active in volunteer work, and I take any chance I can get to play with my two nephews!

I have over 15 years of experience helping students through all aspects of the college application process. This includes English proficiency exams, SAT preparation, school identification, essays, interview practice, evaluating offers, and making a final decision. I have been an educator for over 15 years. I have covered all aspects of English-- reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking. ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have been teaching ESL since 2009. I have worked with students from dozens of countries, from toddlers to seniors, and from beginners to highly advanced. I've taught in both English and Spanish. I have also studied 5 foreign languages, so I truly understand the challenges of taking on a new language.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

Since 2010, I've helped students from the US and around the world gain admission to their dream colleges. Especially with universities going test-optional post-COVID, essays have become increasingly important as a way for students to differentiate themselves. I work closely with students to get to know them well and help them develop truly personal, authentic essays that set them apart from their peers. The process isn't always pretty, but I won't rest until you are thrilled with what you are submitting. I'm also willing and able to help with essays for other academic writing purposes.
GED

GED

While the majority of my experience is with teenagers, I have taught in two different community college settings. I have also worked with adults in English-learning situations and university applications. I am comfortable with many subjects and can support you through the entire GED. I teach multiple standardized tests, and I have found that many of the same tips and tricks apply regardless of the content.
GMAT

GMAT

I have been teaching admissions tests (SAT, GRE, and GMAT) for over 15 years. I am fully familiar with all aspects of the new GMAT Focus exam, and several of my students have already earned qualifying scores and received offers of admission. I'm also an MBA myself, and an experienced application coach, so I can support you throughout the entire MBA admissions process if needed.

Literature

Literature

I have been an educator for over 15 years, covering all aspects of English with both native and non-native speakers. I read a great deal for fun and can recommend something that will fit your interests and reading level.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

My students have been accepted to all eight Ivies, Stanford, Chicago, Oxford, and Cambridge, as well as top liberal arts colleges and competitive programs around the world. I work closely with students and get to know them well so they can craft authentic essays that truly stand out. I want students to "work smarter, not harder," and create a set of core essays they can use as a basis for most supplementary prompts.
Proofreading

Proofreading

Given the competition these days in education, admissions, and business, you can't afford to let careless errors set you back. I am an experienced editor who has supported everything from business plans to PhD theses. I am extremely detail oriented, and I use my brain as I work; this means I won't just correct your punctuation, but will actively edit for content and clarity. In the end, I want you to say, "Yes! That's exactly what I meant!"

Spanish

Spanish

Spanish has been my passion since I was a little kid watching Sesame Street. I studied it through high school, and continued while majoring in Latin American Studies in college. I've had the chance to be an exchange student in Mexico and Costa Rica. I continue to use Spanish frequently in my volunteer work and have taught English with Spanish as the language of instruction.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I often tell my high school students that the purpose of vocabulary building is not simply to pass a test. Vocabulary is a lifelong process, and I can meet you where you are and build strategies to develop your knowledge of vocabulary in the long term. I'm a huge reader and have studied five foreign languages, so I haven't just taught vocaulary development-- I've lived it!
