I am a semi-retired teacher with many years teaching experience in public and private schools, as a homebound teacher, and in business training for various industries. My favorite time has been the recent 8 years as an ESOL teacher. My students have been from all parts of the world, diverse cultures, and various ages from very young to grandparents. Although a native born American, my own extended family is also culturally diverse with members from Russia, Spain, and Japan.

I can offer tutoring for ESOL students at all levels for TOEFL preparation, general English, conversational English, life skills English, business English, English for Special purposes, and accent improvement. One on one and/or small family group tutoring are all possible. Large group classes can be done by special arrangement only. I have a current Virginia Collegiate Professional License in English as a Second Language K-12 and a Graduate Advanced Professional Certificate - TESOL(international).

In the middle school and high school content areas I can tutor Virginia SOL preparation in K-12 English or Social Studies. It is also possible to do general tutoring in these subjects for study skills, grade improvement, or general homework assistance. I am flexible in this and other areas and we can work on special projects, research projects, term papers, science or history fair projects, and/or internet site design for any of those.

Extra study materials, recordings, and other aides can be provided and exchanged using technology if you have access to a reasonably fast internet connection. Locally, tutoring can be done in person in a public location for the standard rate.
