I am a math-focused tutor with 5 years of experience, including 4 years at Sylvan Learning Center and 1 year as a self-employed tutor. I specialize in helping students strengthen their math skills and build confidence across PreK through college-level math, including SAT Math.

I scored 770 out of 800 on the SAT Math section, earned an A in high school Calculus, and also received an A in college-level Calculus. During my senior year of high school, I received the Calculus Award for excellence in mathematics. I hold an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on math, government, and education, and have completed coursework specifically in teaching middle school math.

My tutoring approach emphasizes student thinking and problem-solving. I encourage students to attempt problems independently and guide them strategically when they get stuck — offering just enough direction to help them move forward on their own. Depending on the complexity of the question, I either model the solution or scaffold the process so students actively engage with the material rather than passively receive answers.

In addition to math, I have extensive experience tutoring PreK–12 English, and I enjoy helping students develop reading comprehension, writing clarity, and confidence. I also enjoy tutoring religion and government/history, particularly when students want to understand ideas more deeply rather than memorize facts.

I believe strong teaching combines knowledge with care for the student. In high school, I was honored with the Servant Award, given to one student each year who demonstrates a service-minded heart. This reflects the way I approach tutoring — patiently, encouragingly, and with a focus on helping students grow academically and personally.

My goal in every session is not just correct answers, but long-term understanding, confidence, and independence — especially for students who feel discouraged or stuck in math.
