I first started teaching English during an amazing experience in South Korea when I was 19. The passion for travel and other cultures stayed with me through my time spent in my first career as a geologist. My interest was so strong that I decided several years ago to return to school and get my BA in French, with a minor in International Relations. At first, I taught French to American high school and middle school students, but, in 2024, I decided to switch to teaching my native language, English, in order to meet more people from around the world. I went on to earn my Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), and I am now an ESL specialist at the University of Lynchburg, where I tutor writing and teach English to the university’s international students.
I know the challenges of learning a second language, but more importantly, my CELTA training and teaching experience has taught me the teaching techniques that actually help students to improve. With me, you can expect interactive lessons that will keep you speaking and building confidence in the English language. Then, I can see your strengths and weaknesses and help you with the needed corrections.
